Lee Lippman: New Works
Fri May 02 to Sun June 15, 2014
InLiquid presents New Works, a solo exhibition by painter Lee Lippman, at the Painted Bride Art Center from May 2 - June 15, 2014. Lee Lippman, going strong at 87 years old, has had more than twenty exhibitions in Philadelphia, New York and Mexico. His work is in numerous collections in the United States, including The Phillip Morris collection, the Hollis and Generalis collections, and major corporations and universities. This show presents his series of new works on paper, all created within the past two years.
Lippman has lived and worked in Philadelphia most of his life, except for twelve years in Mexico with his artist wife, Arlene Love. In his youth, he studied in Mexico with the famous muralists, Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros. He also experimented with new media at the Instituto Polytecnico Nacional. Lippman worked on a mural crew with Siqueiros before returning to school at the Philadelphia College of Art (now the University of the Arts), where he was awarded the senior prize for painting. For many years he worked as an art director and graphic designer and began painting full-time in 1975 to today.
Gallery Hours at the Painted Bride Art Center are Tuesday through Saturday, 12 pm to 6 pm.
