Spring Festival at Mount Pleasant Plantation

Sunday May 18, 2014 - 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

250 years ago, a plantation or working farm like Mount Pleasant was a busy place in the spring. Besides planting vegetables, grains, and grass, the farmworkers tended to a flock of one hundred sheep and a dozen cows. This spring festival will feature sheep-shearing demonstrations, while visitors of all ages can enjoy fiber-arts demonstrations and hands-on activities like wool-spinning and dyeing. Buses to Mount Pleasant in East Fairmount Park will depart from the Museum's West Entrance every twenty minutes beginning at 10:30 a.m.
