Social Justice Alphabet Project
Tue May 13 to Mon June 30, 2014
Philly public school students know firsthand about struggles for social justice. Recent budget cuts have forced us all to reflect upon the importance of public schools and the role of education in a democracy. This photographic project expresses different Science Leadership Academy student perspectives about what justice means.
We would like to thank Berry & Homer Printing for generously donating their services to this project. SLA 12th grader Isabela Supovitz-Aznar photographed the students and edited the photos.
The project was coordinated by SLA teachers Melanie Manuel and Joshua Block. Inspiration for this project came from Joshua Kleiman at Kensington CAPA. (Check out their project as well.) Josh's inspiration came from Wendy Ewald and the Literacy Through Photography Program. A big thank you to SLA's Home & School for providing funds for the project.
