Guided Walking Tour of the Tidal Schuylkill River with Robert Thomas

Join the Schuylkill River Park Alliance and the Philadelphia Parks Alliance for a walking guided tour of the tidal Schuylkill River area of Art in the Open Philadelphia.  The tour will be narrated by the nationally renowned trail architect and historian Robert Thomas of Campbell Thomas & Co.  It will begin at 5pm and last approximately 1.5 hours.  The walk is entirely on paved trails and walkways.  The total distance is approximately 2-1/2 miles.

There is no charge for the walk alone, and no limit to the number of walkers.  Please register at:

Please assemble prior to 5pm on the Schuylkill River Trail at the Walnut Street dock under the Walnut Street Bridge . Leaving at 5:10pm, we'll walk north on the Tidal Schuylkill River Trail observing some of the artists at work.  We'll cross the Spring Garden Street Bridge and proceed along the Westbank Greenway to 30th Street Station, with great views of the city from Drexel Park.  We'll return to our starting point along Schuylkill Avenue and the Walnut Street Bridge .

Cost with Sunset Dinner: $50 includes the walking tour AND a sunset dinner with a superb view following the walk.  The dinner will be hosted by Bob Thomas on the deck at his historic home in Powelton Village as a contribution to the Parks Alliance.  The dinner is limited to the first eight participants who pre-register with the Park Alliance at 215-879-8159 or and is tax deductible to the limits allowed by law. 

Dinner guests must be able to climb three flights of steep Victorian stairs, and have no fear of heights, as the view from the deck's dining table is very expansive, extending from Center City to Delaware County.
